Desmond Tutu once said, "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."
We fully recognize that it seems dark today, as we are all feeling the same. It's okay to feel sad, and angry, and disappointed, and frustrated, and scared, and numb. Give yourselves freedom to feel all of the feels. Lean into your family and friends and this community to give you strength when you do not have it yourself. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Then we've got to funnel those emotions into action, searching for that light and hope. We will continue to do the good work and fight the fight. We will build bridges not walls. We will lead with compassion. We will set a good example. We will challenge injustice. We will give voice to the voiceless. We will make a difference. And when we are losing our hope and strength, we will lean on you to lift us up - and we will return the favor when you falter.
Thank you again for all of the work that you did this election season. So many of you joined us at events, knocked doors or did lit drops, wrote postcards and letters, made phone calls, texted potential voters, displayed yard signs, and talked to everyone you know about the election and what was at stake. We see you and appreciate you more than words can say.
We are extremely fortunate to live in Dormont. It has and will continue to be a place for everyone. A safe place - no matter where you're from, who you worship, who you love, what you believe, or what you look like. And it's up to all of us to keep it that way. We know that our differences make us stronger.
We're not done, but we are taking a breather. We'll be back stronger than ever and ready for the fights ahead. Come join us.
